John Marks

John Marks is the author of THE WALL, WAR TORN, FANGLAND and, most recently, REASONS TO BELIEVE. He was a journalist for many years prior to becoming a full-time author. He was a producer at CBS’s "60 Minutes" for a number of years and a reporter and Berlin bureau chief for U.S. News & World Report.

THE WALL, a post-Cold War spy thriller set during the historic fall of the Berlin Wall, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Marks’ critically acclaimed sequel, WAR TORN, a tale of romantic suspense also set in Berlin, was named a Best Book of the Year by Publisher’s Weekly. FANGLAND is a modern-day vampire story that takes place at a TV newsmagazine. It will be made into a film starring Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank.

REASONS TO BELIEVE is both a memoir and a non-fiction account of Marks’ struggle to come to terms with his past as an evangelical Christian and an honest look at today’s evangelicals in the United States. REASONS TO BELIEVE received a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly. Marks has also written for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among other publications. He holds an MFA from the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. He currently lives in Massachusetts.
