John Twelve Hawks

John Twelve Hawks is the author of THE FOURTH REALM, a compelling trilogy reinterpreting history as an ongoing battle between the forces of control (the Tabula) and the forces of enlightenment (the Travelers).

THE TRAVELER, the first in the trilogy, was a national bestseller as well as a bestseller in Great Britain and Germany. It tells the story of a young British woman, Maya, races to Southern California to find Michael and Gabriel, two brothers who may be capable of traveling to other realms. As the Tabula close in, the brothers become separated, Michael is captured, and Maya must find a way to protect Gabriel while staying out of reach of the Vast Machine.

The second book in the triology, THE DARK RIVER, is propelled by edge-of-the-seat suspense and haunted by a vision of a world where both hope and freedom are about to disappear.

Book Three will be published in 2009. In the meantime, visit John Twelve Hawks’ Web sites, John Twelve Hawks and The Dark River.

The Dark River: Book Two of the Fourth Realm Trilogy

Publishers Weekly: “Engrossing… a journey to a horrifyingly fascinating parallel world adds a particularly compelling component to a saga that's part "A Wrinkle in Time", part "The Matrixand" part Kurosawa epic.”

Bookmarks Magazine: “True to Twelve Hawks's vision... the second installment has enough gee-whiz moments and intense fight scenes to keep readers going --particularly those who enjoyed the first book. Some new revelations late in THE DARK RIVER will certainly fuel the finale. Here's hoping Twelve Hawks still has a few tricks up his sleeve.”
